Bahamas Ambassador CA Smith Talkin' Jive

by admin on Mon Dec 01, 2008 11:20 am
CA Smith, says The Bahamas shouldn't be lumped in with other rogue offshore finance centers, yet The Bahamas is the most rogue of all jurisdictions.

Bahamas Ambassador to Washington C.A. Smith on Thursday said sound diplomatic and economic relations would likely influence The Bahamas' ability to successfully address the "Stop Tax Haven Abuse Bill" proposed by President-Elect Barack Obama when he was in the Senate.

"Because of the strength of our democracy, our laws, the relevance of our Conventions, and the long standing good neighbour relationship that we enjoy with the United States, we should not be co-mingled with jurisdictions that violate the laws of the United States or threaten their well-being."

Mr Smith, who is well past his intellectual prime, apparently has forgotten that The Bahamas has played a significant role in virtually every major financial scam of the last ten years. We are a major drug transhipment point, an epicenter of human smuggling and the money laundering capital of the Caribbean.

The majority of our politicians are engaged in criminal, unethical or immoral activities, and our legal system is corrupt and dysfunctional.

Now, what was it that CA Smith wanted to tell President Obama?
