Monday Morning Musings

Freddy Mitchell's Bahamas Uncensored website tells us that good grammar in public speaking has gone out of the window.
"Listening at the House of Assembly or even to public officials, permanent secretaries and the like, even in the Ministry of Education, we can’t seem to get the number or the subject to agree with the verb or get our past tenses in place."
The site reports that Nicolette Bethel, the Director of Culture and a social anthropologist by training, blames this grammatical incompetence on our African heritage. She says that our African mother languages did not have “s” as a form of plural and that our inability to retain it comes from our internal African cultural memory.
What a crock!
The Bahamian monkeys who can't talk right were born in The Bahamas. So were their parents. So were their grandparents. If these chimps can't talk English, it is because they are lazy, stupid or uneducated, not because of their "internal African cultural memory."
Nicolette Bethel took a couple of college level anthropology courses and, because of her crony connections, got a job as our "official" Director of Culture. Hardly the proper qualifications, hence her ridiculous assertions.
I have read her blog. She is clueless. She is one of the crony-connected elite who survives because of her connections, not because of talent or accomplishments. Most of what she says is crap. Her foolish comments help perpetuate the ignorance, perverted nationalism and racism that is the root of our social decay.
Bethel? I wonder if she is related to the drug dealing Bethels from the corrupt Pindling days.
Philip Bethel, Philip Herman Bethel, Michael Bethel, Carl Bethel... I think the Bethel family has done enough damage to the Bahamas.
For that reason, Nicolette Bethel needs to...

I see that those sassy little bloggers from bahamian.ebloggy.com have disappeared again. I think they are connected to the FNM government.
I noticed that they disappeared before, right as the FNM was elected. They apparently felt they had accomplished their "mission", and went off line. They reappeared after becoming quickly disillusioned with Hubbigity's new FNM government.
I think the people behind that website are involved with the buyout of Batelco, the government-owned phone company.
The bloggers merely used the Guana Cay dispute to get public sympathy and attention, but their real mission was to help get the FNM back in power so a corrupt, insider deal could be worked out to sell the phone company to a bunch of gangsters from Montreal, Canada.
Watch! Batelco will be sold to a bunch of Canadian gangsters, just like Hubbigity gave the cable monopoly to a different group of Canadian gangsters. Hubbigity must have a thing for Canadian crooks.
