2004 Conchman Triathlon on Grand Bahama Island
On the first Saturday of every November, Freeport springs into action with the annual Conchman Triathlon – an international event that pushes athletes to their limits with a 1K swim, a 25K bike and a 5K run through the paradise found on Grand Bahama Island in The Islands Of The Bahamas. Staged in Lucaya amidst wide boulevard streets and crystal waters, this year’s triathlon will be held on Saturday, November 6 on the unspoiled sands of Taino Beach. The entire community shares in this fund-raiser, from children and adult participants from around the world to volunteers from the Bahamas Triathlon Association and the Grand Bahama Island Tourism Board. The friendly ambiance of the island reflects its rich culture and history, offering athletes and their family’s value, easy accessibility and a unique variety of experiences.
Past participants in this annual event believe Grand Bahama Island to be the best kept secret in triathlon competition, being a low-key, yet well run race that offers some of the best panoramas and prizes in the history of the sport. For more information on the 2004 Conchman Triathlon, visit:
