Time To Take A Closer Look?
A recent Bahama Journal editorial has brought attention to a BahamasB2B Commentary, posted in November, 2000, which reveals that a murderer was set free when incompetent prosecution failed to make an adequate case.
Ironically, it was Justice Anita Allen who aquitted the accused. And, more ironically, it was Murrio Ducille who acted as the defense attorney. Hmmm?!
Wasn't that the same pair who, just last week, were responsible for another accused murderer walking free when the policeman who was supposed to testify did not show up in court. In the latter case, no warrant was issued for the no-show officer due to fuzzy legal complications surrounding the officer's appearance.
But is that really true? Or, is there a relationship between Mr. Ducille and Justice Allen that begs for a closer look?

Where's the Morality in Bush's Policy?
Leonard Pitts Jr., author and Pulitzer Prize winning columnist for The Miami Herald, wonders where the morality is, in the policies of the moral majority that supposedly re-elected US President George W. Bush.
"Beg your pardon, but one is hard pressed to find much evidence of morality in Bush's ineptly prosecuted war, his erosion of civil rights, and the loss of international credibility that his policies have caused. Unless, of course, one has been quaking in one's boots at the prospect of same-sex couples making a commitment that straight couples have avoided like SARS. In that case, the vote probably reflects one's morality just fine. More's the pity."

Kill Them All, Let God Sort Them Out
Forget the Catholics and their petty Pope. They've been defeated ala John Kerry. Religious fundamentalists in the United States have appointed a new world pope by re-electing George W. Bush. And they treat him like the infallible leader of their new American right.
Despite Mr. Bush having killed over 100,000 Iraqis, including thousands of innocent women and children, in his bid to control mid-East oil, the American people have given him a mandate to kill as many more as it takes to accomplish his greedy goal.
It was never about weapons of mass destruction. And it is no longer about freeing the Iraqis, whose freedoms have never been more trampled. It's all about "black gold" and the industrial/military contracts. And the crony business is booming... thank-you.
The phrase, "Kill them all and let God sort them out," is attributed to Dominic Guzman. He's the founder of the Dominican order of priests. He and an armed troop of heretic hunters had come across a town that was supposed to contain a number of heretics. Guzman gave orders to kill everyone in town. When one of his subordinates told him that there were probably a lot of good Christians mixed up with the heretics what Guzman actually said was, "Kill them all and God will know his own." The Dominicans were also responsible for the three degrees of torture -- the thumbscrews, the bastinado and the burning of the flesh under the armpits. That's how we got the term "The Third Degree."
This seems to be the new American way. To hell with the Geneva convention, forget about sparing civilians. America is going to "crush the enemy" no matter how many innocent people have to die, because that's the American way. But don't anyone tell them, that to many, they are the enemy.
The new American mentality is inhumane and unacceptable. And when terror rains down on America, at the hands of similarly maniacal fundamentalists of another ideology, few in the world will have the same sympathy for the US that followed 9/11.

US Republicans Rejoice While The World Mourns
America braces for attack as war criminal Bush is re-elected.
Despite massive efforts from a variety of patriots pushing for a change, hordes of ignorant fundamentalist "christians" helped put accused war criminal George W. Bush back into the office of President of the United States.
They will most likely regret that decision.
Islamic freedom fighter, Osama bin Ladin, who has been branded a terrorist by Western nations, has made it abundantly clear that the security of America was in the hands of Americans themselves. In a videotape released last week the international fugitive cautioned Americans about re-electing Bush. Bin Ladin is widely believed to be the mastermind behind the cowardly and unspeakable World Trade Center attack in 2001 that killed thousands of Americans. He justified the attack in the recently released video saying it was in retaliation for the hundreds of thousands of Iraqi, Lebonese and Palestinian citizens murdered by Mr. Bush, his allies and his father, George H. Bush, the 41st President of the US.
US voters widely dismissed the video as an irrelevant sideshow.
However, anxiety, concern and dismay were expressed from all corners of the world last night as challenger John Kerry's election chances slowly eroded over the course of the evening.
The United States has endured a roller-coaster ride of warnings during the past three years and two months — such as when al-Qaeda set off bombs in Madrid just before Spain's election. Or when, from time to sickening time, Homeland Security Chief Tom Ridge raised the threat level. Or the many times anti-terror officials picked up "chatter" about a pre-election attack.
One caution, though. It's tempting to believe that al-Qaeda didn't attack because the U.S. has weakened its capability. The problem is that using an American prism may be myopic. Bin Laden doesn't necessarily work on a U.S. election timetable.
Real message: Go ahead, celebrate a terror-free Election Day. Just keep on guard.
As Yogi Berra might have said, the war on terror isn't over till it's over.
